Bukit Baka-Bukit Raya National Park, Sintang Distric, West Kalimantan Province


National Park forest area of Bukit Baka-Bukit Raya dominated by Schwaner mountains peaks. The existence of these mountains is representative of the types of mountainous tropical rain forest ecosystem with high relative humidity (86%).

Recorded 817 plant species belonging to 139 families such as Dipterocarpaceae Myrtaceae, Sapotaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Lauraceae, and Ericadeae. In addition there are plants for medicine, handicrafts, furnishings/building, consumption, and various types of forest orchids. There is interest Raflesia (Raflesia sp.). Which is the largest parasite interest and also growing on Mount Kinabalu, Malaysia. Endemic plants such as Symplocos ravae, Gluta sabahana, Dillenia beccariana, Lithocarpus coopertus, Selaginnella magnifica, and Tetracera glaberrima.





Mammalian fauna that can be found, among others, the clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa), orangutan (Pongo satyrus), sun bear (Helarctos malayanus euryspilus) , red monkey (Presbytis rubicunda rubicunda), lemurs (Nyticebus coucang borneanus), and striped weasel (Visvessa tangalunga).

Bird species living in national parks, among others, hornbills ivory (Rhinoplax vigil), rhinoceros rangkok (Buceros borneoensis rhinoceros), black hornbills (Antharacoceros malayanus), delimukan emerald (Chalcophaps indica), uncal kouran (Macropygia ruficeps), phearants king (Argusianus argus grayi;/i>), and the Borneo pygmy pheasants (Polyplectron schleiermacheri). Kuau pygmy species endemic to the island of Borneo is the most endangered due to human activities in the forest.


Indigenous communities around the park are the descendants of Dayak ethnic group Limbai, Ransa, Kenyilu, Ot Danum, Malahui, Kahoi, and Kahayan. Their cultural works can be seen is the ancestral wooden statues made of wood purchases, rattan / bamboo / pandan and traditional ceremonies. 


Some sites / attractions to visit:
Bukit Baka. Climbing, river canoeing and observing animals / plants. This hill has a height of 1620 meters above sea level, and often covered in fog with temperatures between 15°-20°C. Bukit Baka peak can be reached about seven hours drive from the hamlet Nanga Juoi Manukung Distric.

If you bored with the view of the water could come back to the breeding Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Foundation's BOS is not far from the location of this Tahai (+/-1km). Randusanga Beach
